Sweet Memories – Maria Linda Paes De Quadros (Teacher)

Monday, November 24th, 2008

Maria Linda Paes De QuadrosSweet are the memories of the days in St. Teresa’s School as a Teacher. I was there till 1962 till I married. Sr. Aloysius, Sr. Crain, Philomena and Myrna, sang with their melodious voices in the choir for my nuptials. When Sr. Aloysious was leaving the school, she presented me with a beautiful Sandalwood jewelery box, which is still one of my prized possessions. I was closely associated with the school during the early days in Vaddem from 1958 to 1962 in the Old school building. I am till this day recognized as one of the pioneers of St. Teresa’s school, being one of the first teachers. My daughter Vania studied in St. Teresa’s School from 1976 to 1986. She always had the ambition to excel in school and in 1986, she stood First in the School and in Vasco at the SSC (more…)

Gertrude McMahonDear Past and Present Presentation Sisters, Staff, Teachers, Pupils and Students at Therese’s High School – Vasco-da-Gama and the world over.

My nostalgic memories of St Therese’s at Vasco are and always will be topmost in my mind. Yes! Those were the good old days when conduct, discipline and attendance – besides an education – were instilled by this School on a 101% basis. And I’m happy to say that many of my old colleagues still agree with me.

However, let us not forget – our very many thanks – due to the hard work of our pioneering Sisters of the Irish Presentation Order (more…)

Nostalgic Reminiscences – by Ambadas Sawardekar – Class of 1975

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

Ambadas SawardekarAn alliance of thousand and odd days is enough to be nostalgic, as you reminiscence those old days at my school, St. Therese’s High School, Vasco da Gama, Goa. Wow! And my school is celebrating its Golden Jubilee. What a feeling! Seasons, some tiring ones, have rolled to the dictate of the successful management of the institute, who left no stone unturned to mould the future progressive citizens of our great country. Today, Doctors, lawyers, engineers, bureaucrats, you name them; bow their heads to their alma mater.

Musing over, I remember the class of 40 students with pretty faces of Geeta, Sonia, Shobha, Seema, Honorina, Olivia, Aruna, (more…)

Cherished Memories – Elaine Toscano Peterson – Class of 1990

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

David & Elaine PetersonCongratulations St. Therese’s High School on your 50th anniversary! Congratulations to the staff and students, past and present who have contributed to this success.

My memories of schooling at this great institution are many. My sisters, Carol (class of 1983), Deborah (class of 1986) and myself (class of 1989-90) all studied under the able leadership of Sr. Elvira and watchful guidance of Mrs. Gupta, Ms. Zelia, Ms. Flavia, Mrs. Singh and Mrs. Bijou to name just a few of the teachers.

Every morning I would board the Gay Kindergarten school bus and arrive at the school ground in time for the morning assembly. A few classes and then it would be time (more…)

Rahila (Suvarna) KaupHi Friends:

50th year Anniversary greetings from Rahila (Suvarna) Kaup from the Batch of 1979.

Viewing the website and photographs made me feel nostalgic. Was amazing how many faces I could identify. The website helped me get in touch with two of my classmates: Ana Karina and Mita Dey with whom I had a long chat. Marian has been the only one from my class with who I’ve been in touch all these years. Looking forward to keeping in touch with the others as well through my (more…)

A Tribute To My School – Ameeta Rebelo Monteiro – Class of 1978

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

Ameeta MonteiroHello!

Let me begin by congratulating the organizing committee and the Web Master, Clara for making this celebration a reality and for helping us, the ex-students of this prestigious school, re-connect old friendships.

This is so exciting…the pictures took me down memory lane and brought back wonderful memories of school days. Spotted lots of familiar faces and was pleasantly surprised that I could remember most of my classmates.

I was saddened to hear about Mrs Gupta’s passing. Still have a vivid picture of her gentle smile and kind spirit. Sir Menon, Mrs. Singh, Ms Zelia…were instrumental in me choosing the teaching profession.

Here are some of my most nostalgic/naughtiest memories at St Therese’s.

Going to school was definitely something I looked forward to every morning. Was it the awesome teachers, friends, or maybe even the vendors selling those samosas, (more…)
