Congratulations St. Therese’s by Gertrude McMahon (Teacher)

November 19th, 2008

Gertrude McMahonDear Past and Present Presentation Sisters, Staff, Teachers, Pupils and Students at Therese’s High School – Vasco-da-Gama and the world over.

My nostalgic memories of St Therese’s at Vasco are and always will be topmost in my mind. Yes! Those were the good old days when conduct, discipline and attendance – besides an education – were instilled by this School on a 101% basis. And I’m happy to say that many of my old colleagues still agree with me.

However, let us not forget – our very many thanks – due to the hard work of our pioneering Sisters of the Irish Presentation Order Read the rest of this entry »

Sweet Memories – Maria Linda Paes De Quadros (Teacher)

November 24th, 2008

Maria Linda Paes De QuadrosSweet are the memories of the days in St. Teresa’s School as a Teacher. I was there till 1962 till I married. Sr. Aloysius, Sr. Crain, Philomena and Myrna, sang with their melodious voices in the choir for my nuptials. When Sr. Aloysious was leaving the school, she presented me with a beautiful Sandalwood jewelery box, which is still one of my prized possessions. I was closely associated with the school during the early days in Vaddem from 1958 to 1962 in the Old school building. I am till this day recognized as one of the pioneers of St. Teresa’s school, being one of the first teachers. My daughter Vania studied in St. Teresa’s School from 1976 to 1986. She always had the ambition to excel in school and in 1986, she stood First in the School and in Vasco at the SSC Read the rest of this entry »

A Tribute To My Teachers – Reena Fernandes – Class of 1998.

December 5th, 2008

Reena FernandesWe are fast approaching the new year-2009. It’s been about 10 and half years now, since I completed my schooling. But the foundation, my school and my teachers instilled in me, is what I thrive on, till today!

I graduated as an engineer in the year 2004 and thereafter working as a lecturer in an Engineering College. I got my Masters Degree in Technology in 2008. All this and much more-I attribute it all to my teachers at school and of course my parents, who got me admitted at this honored institution.

Going down memory lane, I remember, the kindergarten Read the rest of this entry »

Making It Count – Jitendranath Patri – Class of 1983.

December 6th, 2008

Jitendranath PatriLet me start by placing on record – my gratitude and best wishes to the organizers of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations for having set up this platform. To mark and record a milestone in the history of St. Therese’s High School, Vasco.

Back in late 2007 – in fact mid 2007 – it stuck me that 2008 would be our 25th year of having passed out from St. Therese’s. It took me a while to digest the fact that it was in 1983 we set out from this great institution to see and experience the world that lay outside.

That very day I made up my mind to get the Read the rest of this entry »

Memorable Moments – Vandana (Rao) Nayak – Class of 1984

December 7th, 2008

Vandana (Rao) NayakHello,

This is Vandana (Rao) Nayak, Class of 1984 (Class X). My sister, Vachana, also went to St. Therese’s, and graduated in ’86. Hearty congratulations to St. Therese’s on the occasion of its 50th anniversary. Unfortunately I will not be able to attend this event.

I cherish many many fond memories of my school years. A lot of what I am today is due to the guidance of the St. Therese’s staff in my early years. Mrs. Gupta, Mrs. Singh, Ms. Flavia, Ms. Zelia, Ms. Ximena, Mrs. Cidalia, Ms. Thelma, Sir Menon, Ms. Vicki, Ms. Honorine, Sr. Elvira, Sr. Nano…and all the other teachers…I cannot forget the valuable education and values I imbibed from them. I have many fond Read the rest of this entry »

Great Days at St. Therese’s – James Henriques – Class of 1974

December 10th, 2008

James HenriquesHello,

My name is James Henriques, and I always carry the fond memories of my school days which I very often narrate to my family (wife and two sons) right from the time I mis-spelt the word “have” to the time the lights went out during our farewell and we shamelessly shed some tears with some of our teachers.

If there was one bad moment it was when Mr. Menon whacked me for looking out of the window at the ships at port during one of his classes and shattered my dream of becoming a captain. (That was before he really came to know us). I believe I sat on the seesaw with my Read the rest of this entry »

Wonderful School-Days – by Cedric Dias – Class of 1978

December 11th, 2008

Cedric DiasHi everybody,

This is Cedric Dias from the class of ‘78

Could not believe how small we all looked at one time. My class photo (pg. 1, No. 19) I recognize mostly by Lyndel’s long plaits and dark-framed, thick glasses. I realise now how much fun school was and I genuinely loved it and would give anything to turn back the clock and start all over again.

I look forward to meeting my classmates & teachers all over again and catching up on old times. If any of my classmates Read the rest of this entry »
